MEDIATED LITERATURE
SEARCHING
Mediated literature searching is provided by library services.
It includes comprehensive and retrospective searching for research
evidence to support various projects run by three Primary Care Trusts.
If you are starting a project, doing evaluation of an intervention,
looking for latest research in disease or service management or
doing an individual piece of work contact Library.
Staff doing their own searching are also supported.
Following services are available to help staff conduct their own
search:
- defining a topic/question
- identifying headings / using online thesaurus
- creating search strategies
- deciding which databases to search
- online searching of electronic databases
- creating bibliographies

- Step by step guide to searching databases online (using Ovid
Online and Dialog portals)
