NHS Athens Account Information
To be able to access the electronic resources available to NHS staff and students or to be able to participate in any library and information skills course that you may apply for, you need to have an NHS Athens Username and Password.
This will provide you with access to various collections of full-text journals, full text electronic books and a selection of clinical and health information databases. These resources will be available to you 24 hours a day either at work or at home.
To register for a username and password you need to go to the Athens Self-Registration address on the Internet at: https://register.athensams.net/nhs/nhsyorkhum/ and follow the instructions that appear on screen. Details of your registration will then be confirmed to you via e-mail.
Important Note
a) In order to register straight away for access to NHS electronic resources please make sure that you complete all the required sections on the electronic form and that you do it from an NHSnet connection (e.g. NHS workplace, NHS Library).
b) If you complete the form from home your application could take up to 10 working days to process. The reason for this is that the resources are only available to NHS staff therefore your application has to be verified before it can be processed.
