PARTNERSHIP GIS

The Doncaster Spatial Mapping Partnership has launched its second DSmart Geographical Information System (GIS). The first DSmart was launched on the Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council (DMBC) intranet in December 2004. Since then the information and communication team at the DMBC have enabled a higher level of functionality.

GIS captures, manipulates, analyses and displays data related to area maps. The new DSmart version will allow the Doncaster Strategic Partnership to share geographical data with greater ease. Data can be added to the system to be shared amongst colleagues and the public, enhancing communication and analysis for users. The new release of DSmart online includes:

The option to choose from a wide range of datasets.

The option to submit your own datasets to the system.

The option to view Metadata (information about datasets) for every dataset on the DSmart system.

The option to save a defined view and restore it during a future session (available to registered users only).

The option to share a defined view with other users and the public.

The option to print detailed maps at sizes up to A3.

The DSmart GIS team encourage feedback about the data and functionality provided by the system (gis@doncaster.gov.uk). The DSmart System can be accessed via:
